I had a terrible experience with Reliance Home Comfort regarding my furnace repair. I booked an appointment, but instead of helping, the person handling my request canceled my account by mistake. When the technician finally arrived, they ordered a part on February 8, 2025, assuring me that it was in stock and would be delivered from Brampton to Mississauga. It’s now February 11, and I still haven’t received the part. Meanwhile, temperatures have dropped to -15°C to -20°C, and I have a child at home with no heat. I have been the only one following up, yet no one from their team has shown any urgency, accountability, or empathy. I keep getting the runaround with no real answers or action to expedite the process. This is unacceptable service from a company that should understand the importance of heating in extreme weather conditions. I expected better communication, faster resolution, and at the very least, some responsibility from their team. Instead, I’ve been left to chase them down with no help or urgency from their end. I do not recommend Reliance Home Comfort based on this frustrating and disappointing experience.
Reliance has once again raised the price of their natural gas hot water tank rentals to now $41.61 a month plus HST. This means that the annual total cost to rent a water heater is $564. This of course does not include the cost of the actual gas you use. You can buy an equivalent tank for about $1,000. Instead, over the course of the 11 years I have rented I have paid Reliance nearly $6,000! In other words, I have spent $5,000 to have the peace of mind that if it breaks down that Reliance will fix it. For $5,000 I could have just bought a new water heater every two years and just used the manufactuer's warranty. Reliance contends their rental rates are "competitive" and "replacement of the equipment without upfront costs being one of the perks." The fact is you can save thousands by buying your water heater from just about any vendor. For example, I can buy the same Rheem water heater from Costco for about $1400 including taxes which comes with a full two-year warranty and then add an additional full five year 24/7 warranty from Costco for $169. Total cost of buying a water tank with 7 years of complete protection is $1568 and you own your tank. By comparison the current cost for 7 years of renting a Reliance hot water tank (and prices increase each year) is $3948. So you save at least $2380 for the same product and service. So their pricing is actually not close to being competitive. After 7 years you can choose to buy a brand new tank (though they should last 15) from Costco and you would still save thousands of dollars over keeping an older Reliance tank. Save your hard earned money, don't rent from Reliance!
I was without heat or hot water and could not get service from my provider. Did some research and called Reliance Was able to see Advisor right away. Came to my house. Current equipment not fixable. Arranged for new boiler which was installed the next morning. Offered a heater for overnight. Installation was done promptly the next morning. Installer left phone number. The temperature was not in correct range in am. Called and someone came and fixed it 15 minutes later. Was able to speak with Advisor re a few questions involving contract. All good. Job well done!
If I could give zero stars, I would. We’ve been dealing with Reliance Home Comfort since August 2024, and they have completely failed to fix our issue. They sent the wrong parts multiple times, showing a lack of engineering expertise and professionalism. Now, in the middle of winter, we are stuck without hot water( 4 months), and the company refuses to take any responsibility. Their service is absolutely unacceptable, and we are extremely disappointed. Avoid this company at all costs!
We had a really great experience with the plumber who saved us a huge bundle by searching through the pipes with a camera to find the culprit which was causing the clog. Vahid had special equipment which was able to view and maneuvre the large peice of our old toilet which was left in there from our recent bathroom reno. Thank you so much Vahid! And thank you Reliance.
